In order to ensure the healthy development of QuarkChain’s mainnet and to further increase the security of the root chain, QuarkChain has completed the mainnet update to version 1.6.0. Miners who have not yet updated, please update as soon as possible.

To better secure the QuarkChain mainnet and to enable bridging assets from other chains, we proposed a self-adjusting mechanism to increase the network’s hash power by lowering the effective difficulty for root chain PoSW stakers.

The targeted network difficulty will match that of Ethereum’s mainnet as of the time of writing, which is around 1 PH/s (source: 2miners). To compare, QuarkChain’s mainnet root chain difficulty is ~1.2TH/s, roughly 1/1000 of the former.

With reference to recent security events, a solid bottom layer is a necessary condition for building rich upper-layer applications. This update will provide better security for the entire network, and a larger number of applications running on it will soon be available.
