Welcome to the 34th QuarkChain Bi-weekly Report for the period from June 14 to June 27.
1. Development Progresses
# Core Updates
## Added
- Added multi-cloud deployment support for AWS, GCP and DigitalOcean
## Updated
- Improved cluster’s memory usage when caching block headers so that a normal 8GB machine can run the cluster for much longer time
- Updated deployment tools to support starting bootstrap nodes, indexing nodes and web instances separately with latest configurations and docker images
- Migrated the existing AWS infrastructure to have lower resource consumption
## Fixed
- Fixed mainnet/devnet web UI to make MetaMask compatible with EIP-1102, which will ask for users’ permission before connecting and signing
2. Partnership
The Memorandum of Understanding that QuarkChain and Credits have signed calls for each party to focus its best efforts towards accomplishing common goals and benefits. Both companies agreed to share good practices and provide each other with consultancy and technical support. The partnership is going to touch upon a number of issues related to such industries like the supply chain and OTC market. Credits and QuarkChain are aimed to bring to new technological solutions for Russian and Chinese business environment. Besides, companies have discussed a range of other potential services and are ready to elaborate on specific initiatives.
3. New Face
Ms. Hanyun Xu has joined QuarkChain Palo Alto as an engineer. She received her Master degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She was a research assistant at UIUC working on applied cryptography, specifically on zero-knowledge proofs and multi-party computation. The algorithms designed by her have been adopted in HoneyBadgerMPC, a robust MPC-based confidentiality layer for blockchains.
4. Event
PoS Consensus CEO Summit in Palo Alto
On June 16, Infinity Stones held an event about PoS consensus. QuarkChain was invited to join this summit and jointly explored what new opportunities the PoS consensus can provide for the development of the industry in the future. QuarkChain Y-Talk Event in Beijing
On June 20, a lecture column called Y-Talk, was held in Beijing. QuarkChain scientist-Yaodong Yang was invited to participate in the event and delivered a keynote speech on “Evolution of Public Chain, Survival of the Fittest”. In his speech, Professor Yaodong Yang mentioned that after nearly 10 years of rapid development, the blockchain industry has made considerable achievements, but there still exist a lot of challenges. In order to solve these problems, we need to use a broader perspective to build a flexible, highly scalable and easy-to-use blockchain underlying architecture that integrates security, decentralization, and efficiency. QuarkChain won the “2019 Top50 Global Blockchain Innovations ”
“2019 Top50 Global Blockchain Innovations “ was released at the WBF 2019 Singapore Technology Conference and Asian blockchain awards ceremony on June 23. Based on users’ votes, the expert panel conducted a full discussion on every project, including the project progress, technology development, market performance, potential value, etc. and explore the real value of the project from the technology to the actual value of the future landing. QuarkChain was honored one of the “2019 Top 50 Global Blockchain Innovations”.
QuarkChain was selected into the list of the third batch of blockchain industries in the Yangpu District
On June 21, the first Yangtze River Delta Blockchain Application Innovation Competition and China (Shanghai) Blockchain Industry Innovation Summit were successfully concluded. At the meeting, a list of the third batch of blockchain industries in the Yangpu District was published. Relied on more than one year’s development, and the real using cases of entity economy, QuarkChain successfully resided in the “Blockchain building” in Yangpu District. Relying on the resources of Shanghai Industrial Park, QuarkChain will continue to develop steadily. We will focus on developing technology, serving the real economy and promoting the healthy and orderly development of the industry.
Upcoming Event
6/27 Consensus, On-Chain Governance and Economic Models in the World of Blockchain in San Francisco
Around 100 delegates will be joining the event. Industry experts and leaders from investment, finance, blockchain will be presenting and participating in keynote and various panel discussions. With the theme, “Consensus, On-Chain Governance and Economic Models in the World of Blockchain”, this event will explore several key topics relating to consensus, on-chain governance and economic models from technology and investment perspective.
6/28 Promotion Event for Chongqing Liangjiang New Area
The promotion of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Event will be held in Shenzhen Bay Innovation Center. The team of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area will introduce the development of the new area. QuarkChain will participate in the event and talk with the attendees.
6/29 The Ethereum Technology & Application Convention
The Ethereum Technology & Application Convention organized by CSDN, Linktime will be held from June 29–30 in Beijing. QuarkChain engineer Ping Ke was invited. They will discuss Ethereum 2.0, blockchain tech with Vitalik Buterin and other industry leaders.
6/29 GCDC2019 GOS Chain Eco-application Developers Conference
GOS Chain Eco-application Developers Conference will be held in Hangzhou on June 29. The conference invites famous scholars, developers and scientists to show the frontier public chain technology of the GOS Chain to developers, industry partners and enterprises from all over the country. During the conference, attendees will explain the direction of investment development, and discuss the ecological application of the blockchain. QuarkChain scientist Yaodong Yang was invited to attend the event and he will deliver a keynote speech entitled “Shards and Flexibility of Blockchain”.
6/28–6/29 The Third World Digital Economy Conference and Exchange Chain Reform Seminar
In order to better serve the members of the WBA World Blockchain Alliance and promote the development of industry exchanges, the WBA World Blockchain Alliance held “The Third World Digital Economy Conference and Exchange Chain Reform Seminar”, “The First World Digital Economy Forum”, “The Second World Blockchain Innovation Conference and Exhibition”, and “The First World Digital Economy Talent Education and Exchange Summit” in Beijing from June 28 to 30. Well-known industry experts will be invited to discuss topics related to the exchange chain, and share relevant experience.
